MaryAnn French

Founder, Owner and Teacher

As one of nine children, MaryAnn has been around children her entire life. Caring for children is practically in her DNA, but it was in high school that she realized her passion for Early Childhood Education. While volunteering at a small learning center, MaryAnn was in awe of the learning that took place at such a young age and knew she wanted to be part of creating that strong foundation and love of learning for children.

MaryAnn went on to earn her associate degree in Early Childhood Education from Keene State College and bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Keene State College. She is certified as an NH Early Childhood Master Teacher, Administrator, and Master Professional.

Now, MaryAnn enjoys each day at Mary-Go-Round Learning Center, the center she started in 1989. She loves connecting with children and their families and sees herself as part of the team that helps children navigate through the world. Her goal is to help each child become strong, confident, independent members of society. To meet this goal, MaryAnn has built a learning center where teaching happens all day long and goes beyond learning ABCs and 123s to teach children to be independent, self-thinkers, and motivated individuals.

In her personal time, MaryAnn loves the outdoors and is an avid runner. She has completed six marathons including four Boston Marathons. She also has a passion for animals and volunteers for the Little Angels Foster Program for Service Dogs.

“Typically, we think it begins at Kindergarten, BUT it begins years before they reach that milestone. I am fulfilled by teaching something new to the children and their families.  Teachers and families form a bond and a team to help young children navigate through the world and become strong, confident, independent members of society no matter how young they are. I enjoy teaching the families how to build better strategies just as much as I love teaching the children something new.  It is very rewarding when a Family says, ‘Wow that trick you taught me works really great!’”

Jillian Godbout

Director, Teacher

Growing up in nearby Manchester, NH, Jillian was always aware of the power of learning. Watching her mother run a licensed preschool and daycare out of her home created a love for school and children. She loves the new challenges and successes, both small and large, that each day brings when working with children.

After seeing the impact of early childhood education throughout her own childhood, Jillian pursued an education that would help prepare her for a career in education. After receiving her bachelor of science degree in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University in 2005, Jillian went on to earn her teaching credential from Granite State College in 2009 and is now certified to teach Elementary Education K-8 and Special Education K-12.

Today as a teacher and director at Mary-Go-Round Learning Center, Jillian’s focus is on developing curriculum to get kids off on the right start for a lifetime of learning. She believes that getting to know the individual child is the first step in teaching and that a one-size-fits-all education doesn’t exist. She enjoys the small class sizes of Mary-Go-Round Learning Center and the ability to develop learning plans that meet each child’s needs.

Jillian is an active Hooksett School Board Member and Hooksett PTA President. She is also a BSA Cub Scout Den Leader and NH State Foster Parent. While Jillian’s family, work, and community involvement keep her busy, she also takes any opportunity to relax and enjoy nature and loves the variety of places – from the beach to the mountains – available in New Hampshire.

“There is not a one size fits all in education.  Kids learn at different speeds and in different ways and that is beautiful!  Getting to know a child is key and the 1st step that needs to be done.  A partnership needs to be developed with trust and safety, only then can real learning happen.  Teach to where the child is at not to what the lesson plans might state.  Kids also need to use their whole body to learn!”
